Alice Gaffney, 81 died peacefully in her sleep at Beth Israel Mount Sinai Hospital on Sunday Feb. 9th. She was born and lived her whole life in Brooklyn, NY. She was lifelong member of Resurrection Church in Brooklyn and was deeply committed to her family and her Catholic faith. She worked for many years in the commercial steamship industry.

She was active in local politics and worked tirelessly for many conservative causes during her lifetime. She recently was awarded the James Gay Memorial Award by the Kings County Conservative Party for her many years of active support of candidates for public office and of conservative ideals.

Alice was predeceased by her parents James and Elizabeth Gaffney, her brothers James, Robert, and Harold Gaffney, Sister Eleanor Maltese and niece and nephews Margaret Boyle and James and Kenneth Gaffney.

Alice is survived by her brother Lawrence Gaffney, and her sixteen nieces and nephews Patty Deacon, Donald Gaffney, Eileen Savold, Joanne Iucci, Gerard Gaffney, Michael Gaffney Harold Gaffney, Mary Sanford, Robert Gaffney, Cecilia Maltese, Christopher Maltese, Robert Gaffney, Elizabeth Lapp, Thomas Gaffney, John Gaffney and Tommy Gaffney as well as twenty two grandnieces and nephews and a great grand niece and nephew.
