WEIR, IRENE, artist and writer, daughter of Walter and Anne Field (Andrews) Weir, was born at St. Louis, Missouri. Her father, Walter Weir, M.A. was a son of Robert W. Weir, (#25257413) National Academician, who, in 1832 was appointed Professor of Drawing in the Military Academy at West Point. He held this post for forty-two years, and in the Chapel at the Academy, is a large allegorical work, Peace and War, ranked as probably his finest production.

Cyprian Willcox in Memorial Hall, University of Georgia, portrait of Madame Curie in Memorial Hospital, New York City, and murals, St Francis, Canticle of the Sun at Rollins College and The Annunciation in St Luke's Church, Katonah, N.Y.
