Ethel Marie (Bumgardner) (Manuel) Harris, 91, Leesburg, OH, died December 17, 2017, at home with daughter Wanda Manuel by her side.

Ethel was born on July 2, 1926 around Peebles, OH, a daughter of the late John and Myrtie (Moore) Bumgardner. She was a life-long homemaker, attended the Highland United Methodist Church, Highland, where she was a Sunday School teacher for years, and later the Church of Christ in Leesburg. A life-long caretaker of others, she loved travelling with Robert and the senior citizens on many trips, including Hawaii and Alaska among numerous other trips. She and Robert enjoyed square dancing and she enjoyed playing scrabble with her daughters and putting together jigsaw puzzles.

She married her first husband in 1944, and had four daughters who survive her. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, and numerous nieces and nephews scattered throughout Ohio and beyond. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert H. Manuel, in 1987 and her second husband, Vernon Harris, in 2004. She was also preceded in death by sister, Mable (Carrol) Knisley, a sister who died at three, four brothers , Johnny (Mina), Roy (Olie), Harold (Dorothy) and Jim Bumgardner.

Family and friends will be received at the Turner Funeral Home, Leesburg, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21st. The service will be held on Friday, Dec. 22nd at Highland United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Mary Cyrus will be officiating. Burial will be in the Highland United Methodist Church Cemetery following the service. Expressions of sympathy and memorial contributions may be made to Highland United Methodist Church, P.O.
