Gary attended Sand Creek Schools and served his entire adult life as a self-employed mechanic. He was skilled at repairing and restoring anything from small engines in various power equipment to automobiles and tractors. He was proud of his collection of treasures and tools in his garage and sheds, and enjoyed any repair challenge that came his way. He enjoyed tent camping for many years, and was an animal lover, especially fond of dogs.
Gary married Nancy “Nan” Zuvers of Morenci on July 28, 1990, and she survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Chelcie Barden of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; a step-daughter, Heather (Justin) Ralph of Sheridan, MI; siblings, Deborah Rice of Wauseon, OH, Karen (Roy) Vires of Fayette, OH, Sharon (Mike) DeGroot of Britton, Brian (Charlotte) Barden of Tecumseh, and Bruce (Mindy) Barden of Adrian; two grandsons, Elijah and Logan; and his beloved canine companions, Axle and Angus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, Daniel Paul Barden.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home in Morenci. Private burial will take place at a later date in the Lyons Cemetery in Lyons, OH.
