Julia Rakich died Tuesday afternoon in St. James Healthcare. She was born May 1, 1907, in Pueblo, Colo., to John and Helen (Cigan) Dunda.

Julia spent her childhood, and was educated, in Pueblo. On Feb. 27, 1927, Julia married Michael Rakich in the Russian Orthodox Church. Shortly after their marriage they relocated to Butte, where they remained constant companions until his death in 1952.

Julia was employed at Butte High School until her retirement. She loved to play cards and crochet, but most especially Julia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Julia was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, son, daughter-in-law, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister, nieces and nephews [survivor's names omitted].

No wake or visitation is scheduled. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Duggan Dolan Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.--Montana Standard, Sept. 17, 2002
