OBITUARY #1 from Altoona Times January 3, 1913 page 5 - The Death Record - FEES - John Fees, for many years a resident of Johnstown, where he was a shoemaker, and for many years a resident in the vicinity of Carrolltown and Ebensburg, died at 4:25 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home of his son, Adam Fees, In Carrolltown, with whom he had lived for nine years. His funeral will be held Saturday, when a requiem High mass will be said at 9 o’clock in St. Benedict’s Catholic church, Carrolltown. John Fees was born In Germany 84 years ago last November. His parents died when he was a young man and when about 20 years old he came to America, locating in Johnstown. He was married to Miss Mary Kunkle, of Scalp Level, who died nine years ago. When the war broke out, Mr. Fees sent a substitute. Since the death of his wife, he had been making his home with his son Adam. The following children of Mr. Fees are still living: Mrs. Rose Pringle, of Conemaugh; Mrs. Thomas Zender and Miss Sophia Fees, of the Seventeenth ward, Johnstown; Mrs. A. J. Miller, of Portage; Andrew, of Lilly; Frank Burgess of Boswell; Joseph, of Altoona, and Adam of Carrolltown. Mr. Fees is also survived by 42 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren who reside in Johnstown, Boswell, Portage, Carrolltown, and East Conemaugh.

OBITUARY #2 from Altoona Tribune January 3, 1913 page 12 - John Fees - John Fees, an aged and well known resident of Carrolltown and father of Joseph Fees of this city, died at the hope of his son, Adam Fees, Carrolltown, on Wednesday afternoon of diseases incident to old age. Deceased was born in Germany and was aged 84 years last November and for the greater part of his life had resided in Cambria county. He was a member of the Catholic church. His wife proceeded him to the grave some years ago and he is survived by eight children including those named above. He is also survived by forty-two grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place Saturday morning, interment to be made at Carrolltown.
