Emma married Charles Stanley Willis on June 12, 1943 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They started their lives together in Kelso, Nevada, and settled in Salt Lake in 1951. Emma was a homemaker and PTA President while her children were growing up. In 1970 she and Charles retired to Manila, Utah. Emma spent a few years as the Justice of the Peace and at the same time, her husband was the Mayor. They were happy they could contribute their time and service to the community. They made many life-long friends in Manila. Emma spent countless hours making quilts and crocheting afghans for her family and friends.
In 1981 they began spending their winters in Kino Bay, Mexico, enjoying fishing and the sunny weather. They enjoyed 20 winters there.
They moved to Bakersfield, Calif in 2000 to spend time with Emma’s sister, and lived there until 2009. She moved into her own apartment at the Meadows Assisted Living in St. George in 2010.
She enjoyed her independence in her apartment. She loved visits from her many nieces and nephews and they were always bringing smiles, stories, dinners, and treats, which she appreciated very much.
She is survived by her children Kitty Lucas, Mike (Sara), Stan (Sue), and Terry (Brent) Wiseman, 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Emma was predeceased by her parents, siblings, husband and grandson, David.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Meadows for taking such good care of her for the last 8 years.
To accommodate her wishes, there will be a short graveside service at the Santa Clara Cemetery on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at12:00 Noon under the direction of the Southern Utah Mortuary.
