She was born on May 12, 1938, in Oakwood, IL, the daughter of George and Lola {Miller} Unverferth. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Adolph on January 24, 1959, until his passing on May 18, 2003.
She is survived by: her son, Greg (Brenda) Adolph of Oakwood; her step-son Bob (Linda) Adolph of Catlin; her sisters, Mary Lou (Charlie) Nichols of Veedersburg, IN, Thelma Hawkins of Tuscola, and Joyce (Bill) Martin of Danville; her grandchildren, Aaron, Jeff, Rob, Tabi, Tobi, Jaret, Justin, & Andrew; and her eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister; and her step-son, Ken.
Verna loved to take care of her home and family. She attended the Fithian Methodist Church. She loved cooking & baking, especially pies and cookies. She remained very active in her community where she served as past Cub Scouts Den Mother. She loved to play softball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Above all, Verna loved and cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00pm, Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Sunset’s Oakwood Chapel, 105 E South Main St, Oakwood, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be 3:00pm to 6:00pm Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Danville Cancer Center or Wild Life Center.
