BOUNTIFUL, Utah — Bryant Byron Black, 88, of Bountiful, died Sunday, Feb, 1, 1987, in a Bountiful nursing home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Relyea Funeral Chapel, Boise. Burial will be in Cloverdale Cemetery, Boise.
Mr. Black was born Oct. 28, 1898, at Riverton, Utah, the fourth of 16 children of Charles Henry and Mabel Annette Warner Black. He married Melba Douglass on June 21, 1929, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He lived in Boise from 1932 to 1982, and had resided in Bountiful since that time. He owned the Bye Bug Service until his retirement.
Mr. Black was known for his poetry and his magic acts. He was also known to many as "Mr. Santa Claus." Mr. Black was an avid sportsman who loved fishing and hunting. He also loved music, and was an excellent drummer who played in the Senior Citizens and in Bountiful.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Barbara Belnap, Annette (Mrs. Robert) Hosking of Bountiful, and Ms. Marcia Black of San Jose, Calif.; four sisters, Thelma Kirtly, Rhoda Erickson and Iris Porter, all of Boise, and Zelen Black of Springville, Utah; two brothers, Karl Black of Oakley and Ganes Black of Granada Hills, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. His wife, Melba, his parents, two brothers and seven sisters died earlier.
Friends may call Wednesday one hour prior to services at the Relyea Chapel in Boise.
