Mrs. Nancy Reed, widow of the late Dr. E. P. Reed, was born April 4, 1827, in Washington County, this state, and died in Brownstown, August 1, 1902, aged 75 years, 3 months and 27 days. She was married in Lawrence County, this state, in 1843, to E. P. Reed.
Only two children survive, viz: Joseph Reed, of Clifford, Bartholomew County, and Mrs. Mary Reeder, of North Vernon. Dr. Reed and wife had lived together 59 years and she only survived him one week. Mrs. Reed was the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Woody, early pioneers of Indiana. She joined the M. E. church at Houston about 1865 and remained a consistent christian until death.
The funeral services were conducted by Elder Wingard at the residence in West Brownstown, on Saturday afternoon August 2, 1902, after which the remains were laid to rest besides those of her husband in Fairview Cemetery.
