Arlene Halling Archibald, age 82, peacefully passed away Jan. 30, 2014, with her family nearby, after battling Parkinson's Disease for 10 years.
Arlene was born Oct. 10, 1931, in Mantua, Utah, to Wilford and Cora Gertrude Jensen Halling. She had eight brothers and sisters. She attended Box Elder High School, graduating in 1949. She met a handsome soldier at the local Mantua gas station while he was filling up his Harley '64.
She married Marloe Leavitt Archibald, Jan. 25, 1952, in the Logan Temple after he had returned home from the Korean War. While Marloe was attending USU, she worked as a switchboard operator and with the post office. After Marloe graduated from USU they moved to Wellsville, where they have resided for 58 years.
Her life was blessed with four wonderful children. She was a full-time homemaker and mother. She enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting and having family parties. She loved having family dinners in her home and at the homes of family and friends. She was a lifelong member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in Primary, Relief Society and Cub Scouts. Arlene and Marloe served in the Tampa Florida Mission and served in the Logan Temple as an officiators for 12 years.
She was a gifted, artistic woman who expressed her creativity through clothing design, quilting, oil painting and creating a beautiful home for her family to enjoy. She was generous in sharing her time and talents with her friends and neighbors. Her home was open to others which included two Navajo students as part of the Indian Placement Program.
She was preceded in death by a son, John, daughter Ann, granddaughter, Gina, her mother, father and six siblings. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, son David (Beth) Archibald of Providence, daughter Zina (Norman) Dayley of Providence, 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, Feb. 3, at the Wellsville 8th Ward chapel, 200 S. 49 West, Wellsville. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday Feb. 2 at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, and a family viewing the following morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
