He was born in Harrisville, Utah to Frederick and Gladys Saunders.
He married his sweetheart Freida Olsen in the Logan Temple on May 28, 1954.
They loved to travel and together visited many places in Europe and most of the United States.
Darrell loved the outdoors and spent many days camping, hunting, fishing and riding horses with his family. He enjoyed sharing this knowledge of the outdoors with the scouting program.
He loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and held many positions in the LDS Church.
He is survived by his children Denise (David) Sawatzki, Roger (Pam) Saunders, Teressa (Jeff) Langston and seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, and parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, December 8, 2017 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may visit family Thursday Dec. 7th from 6-8 pm and Friday from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services.
Interment Centerville City Cemetery.
