Harvey Dean Moore
December 29, 1946 - November 30, 2017

Harvey Dean Moore was born December 29, 1946 to Edgar Moore and Virginia Reynolds Moore. He grew up in Pulaski, TN and was educated in the Giles County School System. Harvey graduated from Bridgeforth High School in Pulaski, TN in 1963. He attended Alabama A&M for a brief time where he played football.

Upon his return to Nashville he was employed by the Sunday School Publishing Board of the National Baptist Convention USA Inc. Harvey professed his belief in Christ at an early age and was baptized along with his older brother James at First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Pulaski, TN.

He enlisted in the military in 1969 where he served in the United States Army for eight years. During this time he married Patricia Miles and to this union a son was born.

Upon his return home he was employed by American Ace Coffee Company as an Equipment Technician. He also worked as a Skycap for the Nashville International Airport. His final career endeavor until his health began to fail led him to self-employment as a Handyman. He did private and commercial painting and could fix just about anything.

In 1989, he met Julia Batson and after a lengthy relationship, the couple wed in 2010.

Harvey enjoyed fishing and loved riding his many motorcycles. He was a very active member and served as President of the Naptown Riders Motorcycle Club for many years. In his later years Harvey enjoyed spending time with his family-children and grandchildren, especially attending his grandson, Alex’s football games.

Survived by wife, Julia Batson Moore; children, Samuel (Laletta) Smith, Harvey D’hati Moore, Thomas Batson, Kongsunia Holland, Shirley and Tabitha Batson; siblings, James (Sylvia) Patterson and Angela Turner; grandchildren, Cory and Grant Smith, Kadeidra Patterson, Isaiah Summers, Jassyria Diamond Moore, Maya, Isiah, Jonathen, Patricia, Shirlithea Batson, Alex Broome, Aydan Smith; 3 great grandchildren; niece, Stacey Patterson; nephews, Lamont Patterson, Marcus, Kenneth and Matthew Turner; aunt, Cornelia R. Adkins; devoted friend, Rochelle Jennings, a host of cousins and friends.
