On Thursday, March 22, 2007, Joe L. Middleton, beloved husband, teacher and coach was called home to the Lord following a courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation for Joe will be held on Tuesday, March 27 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manson from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manson with the Rev. Stephen Sherer officiating. Burial will be in Lake City Cemetery, Lake City. The Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson is serving the family.
Joe was born on May 10, 1949, at Lake City, the son of Jay B. and Lucille Ida (Sorenson) Middleton. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1967 and from Iowa State University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He taught in the Lytton School system from 1972 until 1979. From 1979 until the present he has taught Chemistry, Physics, and Freshman Science in the Manson School system. He was united in marriage with Sheryl McKinney on August 11, 1979, at Lytton.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl; his golden retriever, Sam; sister Roberta (Ken) Duncan of Mt. Dora, Fla.; and twin brother Scott (Marianne) Middleton of Los Altos, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jerry and Robert; and sister June.
