A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mrs. Dorothy M. Cormier, 92, who passed away at 2:30 PM on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Acadia-St. Landry Guest Home.
Msgr. Jefferson J. Deblanc, Pastor of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and burial will take place in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.
Dorothy, a resident of Church Point was the daughter of the late Mr. Henry Martinez and the former Cecile Babineaux.
She is survived by one son, Michael Cormier and wife Jan of Church Point, LA; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Benoit Cormier of Church Point; two granddaughters, Stephanie C. Guidry and husband Simon of Cut Off, LA and Kimberly C. Turner and husband Travis of Eunice, LA; six great-grandsons, Garrett, Peyton and Luke Guidry, Drew, Jaidyn and Daniel Turner; two great-great-granddaughters, Brooklynn and Rowan Guidry; one sister, Ruby Thibodeaux and husband Ferdinand of Church Point; and one brother-in-law, Leo Matte of Church Point.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband R.S. Cormier; one son, singer-songwriter, Joe Warren Cormier; one grandson, Dustin James Cormier and three sisters, Edia Thibodeaux, Etia Lavergne and Lauris Matte.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Guidry Funeral Home on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of the services.
