Private, Co. I, 135th Indiana Infantry (100 days service). Enlisted at Crawfordsville, Indiana on May 6, 1864 and mustered out at Indianapolis, Indiana on September 29, 1864.

Comrade Dr. Henry Rogers, 101 years of age, passed away at his home in Rockville, Indiana, on January 31, 1946. He served as private in Company I of the 135th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. He was the last member of the Steele Post No. 9, and the last Civil War veterans in Parke County. He had practiced medicine in Parke County for 65 years. Dr. Rogers was department patriotic instructor at the time of his passing (67th Journal, 1946).

Rogers, Henry C., P.O. Fort Red, Physician; is a native of Montgomery County, Ind.; born there August 16, 1844; son of Henry and Jane Rogers (nee Kirkpatrick); he settled in this county and township in 1877. Married March 30, 1866, Cintillie Wilson; has had three children--Anna, James H. and Eddie W.
