Sara Virginia Proctor Chaney, 95, of Shelby, NC, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 30, 2017, after years of living with the challenges of Alzheimer's.

Born in Cherokee County, SC, to the late Samuel Marion Elisha Proctor (1889–1977) and Dollie Connor Proctor (1890–1988).

A loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother who enjoyed walking about and traveling. After living in Shelby, NC for 29 years, moved to Florida to be close to her son and daughter-in-law.

Survived by her sons, Chris Chaney (Siti) and David Chaney (JoAnn); sister, Roberta Ellison; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Also preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Anzen Barney Chaney (1920–1972); son, Rodney L. Chaney (1942–1976); one grandchild; and three brothers, Marion J C Proctor (1918–1994), Clyde Pinkney Proctor (1919-1993), Howard Lamar Proctor (1924-1993).

The family received friends from 6:00 - 7:30 pm, Friday, December 8, 2017, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Dover Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. B Irvin Price; burial at Gaston Memorial Park.

Memorials made to Emerald Coast Hospice, Pensacola, FL or to the Alzheimer's Association National Office, Chicago, IL.
