Funeral service for Ret 1stSgt Leon "Sandy" Sanders who passed peacefully at home in Copperas Cove, TX on 23 Nov 2017 at the age of 74 will be on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11 AM at Pershing Park Baptist Church in Killeen.
Leon was born on 21 Feb 1943 in Ponta, TX to Jim and Julia Sanders. He graduated from Kirkpatrick High School in 1961. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served and deployed twice to Vietnam for over 20 years before retiring. He married his wife Yong Cha in 1968 in S Korea. Shortly after retiring, he began working at Fort Hood at Range Support and retired from there after over 25 years of faithful service.
Leon Sanders is survived by his wife Yong Cha Sanders; children, Sandra Fisher (Danny) and Dorothy Afoah (Emmanuel); sisters, Ann Madison, Norman Ok, Wanda Sanders, Fort Worth, TX and Patricia Carey, Arlington, TX. He will be missed and loved by all, especially his grandchildren that he doted upon and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Julia and Jim Sanders, sons Jim and Jason Sanders, sisters Earline and Dorothy and brother Edward Sanders.
