pub in the Burlington, KS, Daily Republican on Tues Aug 4, 1914 - MRS CHAS. H. BELL - Mrs Charles H. Bell died at her home on the morning of July 30(sic), 1914, after a long severe illness. Martha Minnis was born on Sept 22, 1838 at Ann Arbor, MI. She lived there with her parents until April 21, 1858 when she married to Charles H. Bell of Grass Lake, Jackson County, MI. To this union one child was born. In Sept 1871, M&M Bell moved to Burlington, KS, where they have since made their home. The daughter, Mrs W.W.Swindler died in 1908. Mrs Bell was an every day christian sacrificing her very life for the happiness of others. Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her loss, one sister, Mrs Ida E.Birchard of Chicago, who has been here caring for her for about 4 months; 4 brothers; her son-in-law, W.W.Swindler; and a host of friends. The funeral was held from the home on Friday afternoon in charge of Rev.C. L. Hovgard of the Methodist church and the body laid to rest in Mt. Hope cemetery.
