Mark D. Porter, 74, of Chillicothe, died 10:49 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born March 27, 1943, in Ross County to the late Victor and Daisy Miller Porter. On August 6, 1989, he married the former Wanda Smith who preceded him in death July 15, 2012.
Surviving are two sons; 5 grandchildren; a brother, Van of Chillicothe; 2 sisters, both of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Porter; sisters, Maggie Ward and Pansy "Irene" Lewis.
Mark retired after 43 years at the Mead Corp. and was a member of U.P.I.U. Local 738. He was a 1961 graduate of Southeastern High School where he excelled in sports was a two-time pole vault state champion.
Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe. Friends may call at the Ware Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m. on Monday.
