James Harrison "Jim" Allen was the son of Andrew "Andy" Jackson Allen and Tabitha (DeLong) Allen. He married Attie B. Gilmore and they had a son, J.B. Allen. They divorced, and he married Marie Ellen Smith, daughter of John Wesley Smith and Laura Belle (Whitley) Smith. Marie had a daughter from a previous marriage, Edith Mae Wray. Together, Jim and Marie had two children, John Patrick "Pat" Allen and Laura "Louise" Allen.
