Joseph P. Meehan, Jr., age 75, of Lansdowne, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at home. Joe’s life was filled with lots of laughter, love, and happiness from his family. In his professional career, as a member of the Lions Club, and time spent with family and friends, Joe strived to live every day with great commitment, efficiency, and laughter. Known for his dedication to others and his community, he served as a volunteer firefighter for the majority of his life. As a devoted father and grandfather, it wasn’t surprising to receive frequent text messages or calls to talk about school, work, or life. With his wife, Joan, he lived each day full of adventure and humor through the times shared with those most important to him, and it’s those times that are remembered most fondly by his loved ones-trips to Ireland, Eagles and Penn State football, car shows, attending school plays, band concerts, games, and especially the Christmas Day celebrations. Traveling for many years with Joan and his longtime friends, George and Barbara Amerman, they created memories that will be shared for years to come. His commitment to family, fierce sense of independence, and passion for life are all aspects of his legacy that will continue on through the lives of those he touched. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Ann (nee Tomlinson), and his children, Joseph “Kevin” (Laurie) Meehan, Bryan (Teresa) Meehan, and Karen (Dan) Dutton. He is also survived by his siblings, Bill Meehan and Mary Kelly; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Marvil Funeral Home, 1110 Main Street, Darby. There will be a Viewing from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
