Myrtle Adeline Teed was born in Lake Mills, Wisconsin in 1883 to Stephen Root Teed (b. 1819) and Adaline Seeley (b. 1850).

Myrtle married her first cousin, Smith Albert Seeley sometime prior to 1902, before the birth of their first child, Lillian Orabelle Seeley (b.1902). Smith and Myrtle separated at some point in 1905 and records state Smith willfully abandoned his family. In June of 1905, Myrtle and her daughter Lillian were listed as living with Myrtle's parents in the Wisconsin census. At the time of this census, Myrtle would have been approximately three months pregnant.

Myrtle would give birth to her second child in January of 1906, originally naming him Gerold Leroy Seeley. Leroy was likely a name she chose after her younger brother. She would keep her son for ten weeks before surrendering him to the State Public School for Dependent and Neglected children under the falsified name of Robert, likely chosen after her other younger brother. Myrtle did not cooperate in providing the school with a history on the child and gave very few details to the school about his history. It is unknown why Myrtle attempted to conceal her child's identity, however, her actions concealed who he was for 112 years. Her son would pass away just two short weeks after his admission to the school.

Myrtle became a nurse by the 1910 census and continued to live in the same household as her mother and brother. According to the 1910 census, Myrtle indicated she had given birth to two children; one living, one dead, thus indicated she was aware of her son's death at the State Public School.

She would later go on to marry a man by the last name of Howe, but little is known about him, or under what circumstances their marriage ended. By 1940, Myrtle would be living with her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren in Chicago, where she remained until her death in 1945.
