Billie Jean Barnard Bell died November 23, 2017, in Scottsboro in a car accident. She was 76.
Billie Jean (“Billie” or “BJ”) Bell was born June 28, 1941, in Guntersville, AL to Henry and Imogene Barnard. She graduated from Marshall County High School in 1959 and attended Auburn University where she earned a degree in Office Administration. After working in Huntsville for Brown Engineering for a short time, Billie met and married George Michael “Mickey” Bell and devoted her life to the roles of wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Billie Jean Bell is survived by her three sons, Chris, Monty, and Brett and their families: Chris and Kathy Bell of Prattville, Monty and Pam Bell of Montgomery, and Brett and Alicia Bell of Scottsboro. Billie’s grandchildren are Hunter(28) of Opelika, Lucy (26) and Sellers Spurlock of Phenix City, Sydney (20) at UAB, Tyler (17) of Prattville, Lindsey Woods (30) of Scottsboro, Samantha (18) at Auburn, Joshua (13) of Montgomery, Courtney (17) of Scottsboro, Carley (15) of Scottsboro, and great granddaughter, Collier (4) of Opelika. Billie Jean is also survived by her sister Nancy and Bill Ingram of Guntersville, nephew, Jim and Brandy Beard of Guntersville and great niece, Abigail (8).
Billie Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, George Michael “Mickey” Bell and granddaughter, Hayley Louise Bell.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 26th from 1pm – 3pm at Rudder Funeral Home in Scotsboro, with services immediately following at 3pm. Burial will follow the service at Pine Haven Memorial Gardens. The Reverend Lisa Busby of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will preside. Condolences may be made at www.rudderfuneralhomes.com.
