OAKLAND - Catherine Ann "Cathy" (Tibbetts) Davidson, 52, left this world way too soon, in the presence of the love of her life, her husband, John P. Davidson III, wrapped in the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, in Waterville. Born April 1, 1965, to Mary Charlotte (Picard) Goulet and Donald Keith Tibbetts in Waterville, Catherine was a gift to everyone who had the privilege of truly knowing her.

As a young child, Cathy knew she was destined to devote her life to the care, protection and rescue of animals, saving and nurturing every animal she was able to since she was 13. As a teenager, she worked long hours at the School of Dressage in Fairfield, paying for her riding lessons, garnering her many blue ribbons. Her favorite part of her dressage events was her grandfather, "Pic," going to watch her. Working there was one of the highlights of her life that she talked about to the day she passed. Over the years, she took in hundreds of animals, from mice to horses, caring for them and nursing them back to health. To save an animal, Cathy would put her own life at risk many times, but never once wavered in her resolve to make sure they were not ever endangered again. She would go without to ensure that all her animals had the proper care, treatment and nutritional needs taken care of, much of which was possible due to her husband's devotion to her and her animals as well, working by her side to help all animals.

Catherine was well-known for being an authority on horses, particularly Egyptian Arabians, raising her own for many years. She prepared detailed pedigrees for friends and had an extensive knowledge of all things horse-related. Cathy truly had a heart of gold and a gift with all animals, great and small. She spent her extra time researching ways to make animals' lives better, make her family's lives better, always caring for others. Never would an animal suffer in her care, nor a family member or friend go without on her watch. Her gift of giving extended to, in particular, her sister Susan's family, but also to many, many others. Cathy grew beautiful vegetable gardens, raised chickens for eggs, and so much more, for the sole purpose of sharing with her family and close friends. She had a particular knack for coming up with cross breeds of vegetables, the most famous of which was "zuchin" (pumpkin and zucchini cross), which she managed to preserve seeds from and grew for several generations in her quest to naturally generate new breeds.

Affectionately known as the "Jam Lady," Cathy would make hundreds of pints of every variety of jam every year and gave them away to those she loved. She and her husband made the most incredible jam, and we all came to the conclusion that it was the love put into it that made it so wonderful.

Cathy is survived by her husband, John P. Davidson III; her mother, Mary Charlotte (Picard) Goulet; stepfather, John A. Goulet; siblings, Stephen Lawrence Tibbetts and wife Sheryle Tibbetts, Susan Melanie (Tibbetts) Totman and husband Brian L. Totman, little "bro", Brian Keith Tibbetts, Donald Keith Tibbetts Jr. and wife Amanda Tibbetts, and Christopher Tibbetts and wife Tara Tibbetts; several nieces and nephews whom she loved so, Ronaldo (Ronnie) Lucien Brian Tibbetts, Shirlee French, Cody Camirand, Corey Camirand, Ryan (her "Ry") Lee Totman and wife Nikki Lee Totman, Matthew (her "Mattie") John Totman and fiancé Tayler Drinkwater, Joshua (her "Joshie") Alan Totman, Alyssa (her "Alys") Marie Totman, Kalianna (Kali) Tibbetts Lutz, Lucas Lutz, Eva Grace Tibbetts, Leah Ruth Tibbetts, Timothy Pelotte, Jr. and Candy Webster. "Auntie Cathy" was "second Mom" to Susan's children, and took great pride in that status, taking care of them throughout their lives in any way she could. Always thinking of them, every holiday, every birthday, never did she forget to reach out.
Susan's grandchildren (Ryan's children), Jazlynn Shae Totman and Bryan Lee William Totman, were also her surrogate grandchildren by extension and she delighted in making special jams and other gifts for them. "No one makes jam like Auntie Cathy!" Cathy is also survived by her father-in-law, John P. Davidson Jr.; many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandnephews and other extended family; as well as special friends, Maureen Nadler, Sheila Cone, David Stewart, Liz Munk Knight, Sewell Colby, Alyssa Bell, Ginger Wilkins, and lifelong friend Christina Therrien. She is also survived by her animals (her "critters"), including her beloved mare, Mariana, sired by her treasured stallion Ruala Shafinaz and daughter of her rescued and beloved mare, Sharaf Al Kiyara; dogs (mostly rescues) Petey, Sassy, Abby, Domino, Sketchy, cats, Joshie Paws, Milo and Ellie, her crazy chickens and the gorgeous birds who I think flew to her backyard just to let her take their pictures every day.

Catherine was predeceased by her grandfather, Ronaldo Lucien Picard; grandmother, Helen Lucille (Rancourt) Picard; father, Donald Keith Tibbetts; very special uncle, Bernard Rancourt; and mother-in-law, Lucille A. Davidson.

At Cathy's request, there will be no viewing or funeral. Her ashes will be interred in the spring next to her grandparents in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Waterville. A small gathering of immediate family will follow burial in the spring at Cathy's favorite place, the family camp at Petit Manan in Steuben, in commemoration of her life.

In lieu of flowers or cards, any donations toward the care of her many rescued animals would be a wonderful tribute to her memory. Mail any donation to Susan Totman, P.O. Box 223,
