Silas Wessell, former resident of Amsterdam, died Thursday morning at his home, Delanson, R. D. 2, after a brief illness, death being due to a heart attack. He was in the 85th year of his age. Mr. Wessell was born in the Town of Charleston and for 20 years lived in this city being employed for a long time at the Gardiner & Warring knitting mill Sixteen years ago he moved to Delanson, where he has been living in retirement practically ever since. Those who knew Mr. Wessell when he resided here recall him as a man of sterling character who enjoyed the respect of a wide circle of friends. He is survived by one son, Herman T. Wessell, Amsterdam; one brother, Cornelius, Fonda; one sister, Mrs. Mary Rose, Fultonville, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at the White funeral home, Delanson. Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock and interment will be in the Valley Cemetery at Sloansville.
