August William (Bill) Lentz IV, of Fulton, Texas, passed away July 31, 2016, at the age of 64. He was the firstborn son of August William Lentz III and Nina Pankey Lentz. He was born in Harrisonburg at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Pankey.

Bill died of an extremely rare form of cancer for which there is no known protocol for treatment at this time. Bill was a private person, so he told only a few close people of his illness. He did not want to worry others or to have them feel sorry for him.

Bill loved the water and lived by himself near the Gulf of Mexico. He was so fortunate to be surrounded by understanding and compassionate friends and neighbors. They were always there to help him in every possible way. When hospice care became the only option, his friends were still there as his alternate family to help support him.

Bill is survived only by a brother, Ed; his aunt and uncle, Marie Pankey Manecci and Mario A. Manecci; many cousins; and numerous Fulton friends.

In a private ceremony at a later date, Bill will be buried beside his mother at the family plot in the Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg. Although Bill spent much of his time in Texas, he still considered himself a Virginian, and it was his final wish to come back to his family home.
