Evelyn Lucille Henderson, age 81 of Exline, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Evelyn was born on June 14, 1936 in Exline, Iowa, the daughter of Leroy and Edna (Cline) Wages. She was united in marriage to Louis "Luke" B. Henderson on May 2, 1953. From this union, five children were born, Steven, Sharon, Gayle, Timmy, and Tonia.
After Luke and Evelyn married, they spent their lives in Exline raising their five children. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, excelling in cakes and pies. She loved spending time with her family, especially at family functions, including family dinners and holiday get-togethers. She enjoyed life, family members and friends. Evelyn was always there to brighten the lives of others.
She is survived by her children, Sharon (Michael) Shanahan of Columbia, Missouri, Gayle (Devon) Henderson Pickens of Unionville, Missouri and Tonia Henderson of Exline, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one great, great grandson; six siblings, Marilyn Sherbonda of Davenport, Iowa, Diana (Everett) Lamb of Davenport, Iowa, Jennie (Steve) Weggen of Davenport, Iowa, Lee (Jean) Wages of Dayton, Nevada, Wendell Wages of Albia, Iowa, and Gary (Diane) Wages of Princeton, Missouri; as well as a host of friends and relatives.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Luke Henderson; her parents, Leroy and Edna Wages; two sons, Steven and Timmy Henderson; a brother, LaVern Wages; and four sisters, Carletta, Juanita, Shirley, and Eva June.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM, Monday, November 20, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Howard Luscan and Pastor Gayle Henderson Pickens officiating. Interment will follow the service at Exline Cemetery, Exline, Iowa. A visitation will take place from 4-6PM Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville.
