Armond “Bud” Patterson, 86, of Twin Falls, died Monday, November 13, 2017 at Stoney Creek Retirement Center.

Bud was born March 22, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio to Alva and Hazel Patterson. He grew up in Dayton until the family moved to New Mexico to start the Mon Ropsa Dairy Creamery. Bud graduated from high school in New Mexico and helped the family run their business. He also served in the US Army, honorably discharged in December of 1952. In 1965 the family moved to Jerome, Idaho and started the Mon Ropsa Ranch. They raised and sold premium Black Angus stock throughout the United States.

Bud continued with the ranch until 1987 when he sold and retired to his home north of Filer, Idaho. Bud continued to raise and sell a few Mon Ropsa Black Angus stock right up until his 80’s.

In his 80’s, as his health began to decline, Bud’s dear friends Jody Boundy and Casey Ridley looked after him, making sure he could stay at home with his dogs for as long as possible. In April, 2017, Bud moved into Stoney Creek Retirement Center and Jody and Casey continued to look after him, taking him on rides and to his favorite restaurant, Perkins.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Hazel, and by his brother Shey Patterson. He is survived by a niece, Jan Orth, a nephew Arnie Frank Patterson, his sister-in-law Donna Bach Patterson, and by his dear, closer than family friends, Jody Boundy of Twin Falls and Casey Ridley of Filer.

Special thanks to Perkins Restaurant for their hospitality, Stoney Creek Retirement Center for their great care, all the help from Auburn Crest Home Health and Hospice, Drs. Ficklin, Johnson and Retmier, accountant Mark Brady, attorney David Coleman, for wonderful friends Karl Rice of Virginia, and Jim Miller and Frans of Twin Falls, and for Bud’s loyal dogs.

Bud’s life will be celebrated at a graveside service at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Sunset Memorial Park, 2296 Kimberly Road in Twin Falls. Military honors will be provided by the Idaho National Guard and the Magic Valley Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bud’s name to the Twin Falls Animal Shelter, 420 Victory Avenue in Twin Falls.

Arrangements are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel of Twin Falls. Condolences may be left at www.reynoldschapel.com.
