Gene Dragseth, age 76, of Nunda, died on Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Madison Regional Health System. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Friday, November 17th at Grace Lutheran Church, Nunda with Rev. Phillip Hofinga officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM on Thursday at Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Prairie Queen Cemetery.

Eugene Jerome Dragseth was born March 24, 1941 in Madison, SD, the son of Elmer & Emma (Selland) Dragseth. He graduated from Rutland High School in 1959 and he served in the SD National Guard for a few short years. Gene managed the Farmers Union Oil of Nunda for 25 years and worked at Terra Industries and F & M Ag for 20 years. He was a member of the Nunda Fire Dept., Town Board, former mayor of Nunda and was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church and served as Head Usher for many years. Gene enjoyed mowing, driving his UTV around the area to check on the boys and his morning coffee crew. The most fun for him was spending time in Nunda with his family, camping, boating, horses and just being Grandpa Gene.

He married the love of his life, Kathy Petersen on December 23, 1959 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rutland and to this union, four children were born.

Gene is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Kathy of Nunda; four children, Jeffrey (Debora) of Sturgis, SD, Terry (Rita) of Mitchell, SD, Kim Olson of Rutland, SD and Jami (Chad) Ray of Brandon, SD; ten grandchildren, Eric (Mandy) Dragseth, Michael (Angela) Dragseth & Chloe Dragseth, Sydney (Randy) Kiewel, Tyler Olson, Brandon (Kelsey) Olson and Mitchell; Tanner Olson, Jack & Ella Ray, one granddaughter, Gracie Pearl who is now safe in the arms of Jesus; five great-grandchildren, Axl, Benjamin, Payson, Riker & Rhett; one sister, Susan Molskness of Madison; one brother, Jerry (Marge) of Ortonville, MN; sisters-in-law, Joanne (Charlie) Kwasneiski, Rochelle (Gary) Johnson both of Madison, SD and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eloyce; brother-in-law, Donald Molksness and son-in-law, Loren Olson.
