Katherine Victoria (Grabowski) Godlewski, age 97, of New Britain, died Tuesday, (November 7, 2006) at Brittany Farms Health Center in New Britain. She was born August 27, 1909, in Meriden, the oldest of the ten children of Frank and Victoria (Wdowik) Grabowski. She resided in New Britain for over 75 years. She was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, the Ladies Guild, and the Holy Cross Bazaar Group until her health forced her to retire. She taught second grade at Holy Cross Elementary School from 1962-1979 and prepared the children for First Holy Communion. She has been a resident of Brittany Farms Health Center for the past 2 1/2 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Joseph, Stanley, Walter, Michael, Charles, and Louis Grabowski; and sisters, Ann Grabowski and Helen Egan-Dostie; her husband, Joseph A. Godlewski; her daughter, Helena Rice; and her son, Donald Joseph Godlewski. She is survived by a brother, John Grabowski of Southington; a sister, Julia Lipnicki of New Britain; her daughter-in-law, Anne Godlewski of Biloxi, MS. Several grandchildren and g. grandchildren. Visitation will be held November 11, at 9 a.m. at New Britain Memorial/Sagarino Funeral Home on Farmington Avenue in New Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church on Biruta Street. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
