Her obituary which appeared in The Crowley Daily Signal, Crowley, Louisiana, 3 Oct 1939 reads: MRS. N. A. EMBRY DIES ON MONDAY NIGHT IN CROWLEY – Funeral Services Will Be Conducted from Funeral Home at 4 o'Clock Tuesday – Funeral services will be held from the Geesey-Ferguson funeral home at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. N.A. Embry, 89 years of age, who died at 11:05 p.m. Monday at the home of her son, J.W. Embry. Mrs. Embry, who had been in failing health for the past three years, became seriously ill ten days ago and grew steadily worse until her death Monday night. Mrs. Embry was born on February 13, 1850, at Columbus, Miss., and had been a resident of Crowley for the past 29 years, coming here from Mississippi. Surviving are two sons, J.W. Embry of Crowley and D.G. Embry of Shreveport; two brothers, John Montgomery of Starksville, Miss., and William Montgomery of Rutherford, Tenn.; thirteen grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
