Helen Gore Inman was born in Whiteville, NC December 30, 1929, the second child of Howard and Edna Marlowe Gore. She was predeceased by her parents and three siblings, Irene G. Brisson and husband, Houston, Richard M. Gore and Michael P. Gore. She is survived by her husband, James Rudolph Inman. Children: Nancy Inman Newby of Charlotte, NC, James Wayne Inman and wife Debbie of Charlotte, NC, Helen Frances Inman Kaleel and husband Ricky of Clinton, NC. Five grandchildren: Reed Newby and wife Lisa of Fort Mill, SC, Chris Inman and wife Natalie of Pineville, NC, Lindsay Inman of Mt. Juliet, TN, Ana Kaleel Holler and husband Adrian of Goldsboro, NC and Caroline Kaleel Evans and husband Matthew of Clayton, NC; one great granddaughter: Jadyn Newby of Fort Mill, SC and sister-in-law: Doris Gore of Clinton, NC.
Helen was a graduate of Whiteville High School where she was a debate champion, majorette, editor of the School Annual and a member of the Glee Club. She was Queen of the Farmers Festival.
In 1946, she met the love of her life, Rudolph, at White Lake, NC. He always said, "she was the prettiest girl he had ever seen." They were married shortly after in 1947. When she moved to Elizabethtown, she joined Trinity United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday School class secretary and treasurer for many years. Helen was active in her Church Circle, the United Methodist Church Women's Society of Christian Service, taught Sunday School and was a kitchen helper. Helen was on "Say When" a national game show, filmed in New York City in 1964 and was one of their top winners. She was President of the Junior Woman's Club and help organize the Elizabethtown Band Boosters Club.
Helen, along with her husband and daughters, did significant work on the altar needlepoint at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown; a project she was very proud of. She loved Jesus, her Church and her Church Family.
She was formally employed as a bookkeeper for Lower Cape Fear Telephone Membership Corporation (now known as Star Telephone Membership Corporation). Later, she worked for Cooperative Savings and Loan in Elizabethtown. In 1997, both she and her husband retired from the rental business at White Lake, NC.
A service of Love and Remembrance will be held Saturday, November 18th at 2pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown. The family will receive visitors immediately following the service in the Fred Davis Activity Building and other times at the home.
