Ralph Jewell, 73, died at 4:50 PM Monday [July 7, 1980] in St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he had been hospitalized for two weeks, following four years of failing health. A life resident of Lafayette, his marriage was in 1927 to Katherine Toman, at Attica, and she survives.

Mr. Jewell was a former Alcoa foreman and also an employee of Schroyer Construction Company. He attended First Church of God.

Surviving with his widow are three daughters, Viola Mae (Mrs. Marvin) Lucas, Esther (Mrs. Donald) Lucas, and Beverly (Mrs. Fred) Wethington, all of Lafayette; five sons, Donald E. Jewell of Otterbein, Clarence L. Jewell, Dennis W. Jewell, and Stanley R. Jewell, all of Lafayette; 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
