Richard R. Wilson, 88, of Colona, Illinois, died Monday, November 6, 2017, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Reverend Jonathan Eckberg officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the family.

Richard was born September 14, 1929, in New Effington, South Dakota, the son of Marvin and Susan (Harn) Wilson. He married Glenda High on January 6, 1953, in Reno, Nevada. He served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, during the Vietnam and Korean Wars, retiring in 1969. He went on to work for John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline as an electrician for 18 years, retiring in 1992.

He enjoyed putting together puzzles and model airplanes, electrical work, and playing euchre and games on his phone. In his younger years, he was a bowler. Above all else, he enjoyed being with his family, especially dancing with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife, Glenda; two children, Rhonda Floyd of Colona, and Richard “Rick” Jr. and Julie Wilson of Erie; grandchildren, Zachariah and LaChelle Betcher of Davenport, Sarah-Beth Floyd of Bettendorf, Nikolas Floyd of Colona, Tyler Wilson of Albany, Illinois, and Megan Wilson of Columbia, South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Ellalu, Jason, and Anthony; siblings, Marvin Wilson and Betty Lee, both of Spokane, Washington; several nieces and nephews; and many other special friends, many of whom called him “Grandpa”. He was preceded in death by siblings, Marge Rice, Everett Wilson, Ronald Wilson, and Albert Langeberg, Jr.
