Frankie Lois White-Pontious
March 27, 1924 - November 1, 2017

Frankie Lois Mayo White-Pontious, 93, passed into Heaven early in the morning on Nov. 1, 2017. Her daughters were with her as she slipped away peacefully to be with her Lord. She was born on March 27, 1924, in Madill, Oklahoma, to Nathan Moody Mayo and Clara Bain Mayo, and her name, "Frankie", was chosen by the local schoolchildren. The family moved to Ardmore, OK, and by her high school years, she was a talented vocalist and pianist, performing trios often with her 2 talented sisters in churches all over southern Oklahoma.

She met her husband, Clifford Keith White, at Falls Creek church camp, Davis, Oklahoma, and the two were married in Crewe, Va., in 1943, just prior to Keith's overseas service in the 45th Division under General George Patton in World War II. Upon his return, the couple moved to Oklahoma City. They attended First Baptist Church, OKC, and served others in the northwest community. Frankie had 2 daughters, Linda & Beverly, and while raising them, she taught children's choir, piano, Girl Scouts, and began painting, too. Keith tragically passed away from his war wounds in 1965, so Frankie went back to college & graduated from UCO in 1972. She found her true calling as a schoolteacher in Oklahoma City public schools, where she taught until her retirement. In 1985, she married Frank Pontious, also a WWII veteran pilot, and they spent many years flying all over the Southern United States to WWII pilot reunions. Frank passed away in 2011. In 2014, Frankie moved to Edmond, OK, to be near her daughters & lived at Touchmark Senior Community, where she developed more friends to add to her growing extended family.

Frankie made friends wherever she was, and she never met a stranger. She "visited" with everyone, as each and every person was special to her. Frankie's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the most important people to her, and she loved them deeply and completely, embracing their interests and providing total support. Frankie was a Proverbs 31 woman, tending to her family, teaching them by example, and loving them, as she loved the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Pauline Culp, Chickasha, Jean Jordan, Ardmore, her brothers, Warren Mayo, Waco, TX, Harold Mayo, Birmingham, AL.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda White Lavender and husband, Lee; and her daughter, Beverly White Whitener and husband, Larry; her grandchildren, Kristin Geddes & husband John, Rachel Wilson & husband Chance, Amy Martin and husband David, Curtis Whitener, Leesa Facemeyer & husband Rodney, Chad Lavender & wife Jennifer; and 13 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Janet Mayo, Birmingham, AL; many nieces & nephews; and many friends.
