Richard A. Cullison, 76, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, in Eufaula, Oklahoma. He was born December 17,1924 in Sperry, OK. After attending school in both Sperry and Tulsa, he served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943-44, then immediately joined the U.S. Army, where he served for 20 years, retiring as a Sergeant in 1964. He married Theresa Denham in May of 1967 and they resided in Midwest City, where he had launched his second career with the Civil Service, working as an airplane mechanic at Tinker Air Force Base. He retired for the second time in 1979 and in 1988, he and Theresa moved to their vacation cabin in the Eufaula area. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Theresa; brother, Gene Cullison of St. George, KS; three daughters, Susan Avants of Enid, OK, Joyce Webb of Oklahoma City, OK, and Maggie Denham of Crowder, OK; seven grandchildren, Stony, Austin and Josh Avants and Adonica McConnell of Enid; Cheshire Hill, Brennia Penrod and Casey Webb of Oklahoma City; and nine great-grandchildren, who all loved spending time with their Papa at the lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Lola Cullison, four brothers, Herbert, Arthur, Elmer Lee and Fred Cullison, and two sisters, Pauline Kisling and Irene Vandagriff. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 10, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 220 S. Main in Eufaula, followed by a fish fry in Richard's memory.
