Mr. Jack Lee Childers, age 90 of Scottsboro, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. He was a WWII veteran, as well as being an ordained Baptist minister since December 1957 at Fairview Baptist Church. He retired from Redstone Arsenal Missile Command, as well as the minister at Edgefield Baptist Church in Stevenson. He was also a longtime member at First Baptist Church of Scottsboro, where he once served as a teacher for the
“Off The Wall” sunday school class.

Mr. Childers is survived by his daughter, Gayla & Ronnie Murphy; sons, William Thomas & Connie Childers, and Barry Lee & Connie Childers; grandchildren, Heather & Neil Collins, Amy & Jason Statum, Barry Lee & Becky Childers, II, Megan Childers, Jessica & James Watson, TJ & Nicole Orr, and Erica & Blake Goins; great-grandchildren, Luke Collins, Logan & Madelyn Childers, Jocelyn Watson, Ainslee Orr, Taylor Edgar, and Grayson Murphy; brother, William A. “Dud” Childers, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Lelia Childers; sisters, Marjorie Reynolds and Doris Brown; and brother, Dan Childers.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 4-9pm at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro. The funeral service will be Friday, November 3 at 2pm at the funeral home chapel with Bro.
