Blackwell, Marilyn Deborah (nee DeMaso) Longtime resident of Chicago Ridge, left to be with our Lord, with her family by her side, on October 28, 2017. Beloved wife of Joe; loving mother of Cheryl, Joe (Donna), Mary Lynn Blackwell, Susan (Jack) McLain and Laura (Bassam) Barazi; cherished grandmother of Ryan (Theresa) Blackwell, Erin (Keith) McDonald and Nicole McLain; great-grandmother of Oliver, Hayden and Cooper; dear sister of Dolores Vock; fond aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a friend to all. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Deborah DeMaso; brother, John, and sisters, Joan Kober and Rita Schreiber. Marilyn was born in Chicago and married her high school sweetheart in 1958 at St. Justin Martyr Church. Marilyn was a loving wife, best friend and "babe" to Joe. Together they raised 5 wonderful children. She worked as a highly respected mortgage underwriter in the Chicago area. Marilyn also found time to earn her private pilots license, and also became an avid golfer. She was a longtime volunteer at Our Lady of the Ridge Church as well as for the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Her kindheartedness and warm smile will be remembered and missed by many. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through these past months as she battled cancer. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Seasons Hospice. Visitation Monday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Tuesday 9:15 a.m. from Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111st. Chicago Ridge, to Our Lady of the Ridge Church, 108th and Oxford Ave. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
