Dale Dean Steelman (1937 - 2017)

Dale Dean Steelman, resident of Rancho Cordova, Formerly of Escalon, passed away on October 23, 2017 at home at the age of 80 years old.

He was born on his grandma's farm in Summersville, MO on June 26, 1937.

When he was 10 years old, his family moved to Escalon, CA, where he graduated from Escalon High School in 1955.

He then enlisted in the US Navy at age 17 and was a photographer in aviation which allowed him to travel to San Diego, Guam, and the Aleutian Islands. He eventually moved to Rancho Cordova in 1963 to work at Aerojet, he then worked at McClellan AFB where he began by repairing aircraft instruments but transferred to engineering later where he was a building manager on an aircraft hangar.

In 1993, after 36 years of service he retired with many fond memories of all his co-workers. Dale had a strong sense of civic pride and duty. Over the years he donated more than 10 gallons of blood, was a lifetime member of the Optimist Club of Rancho Cordova, and was actively involved in making Rancho Cordova a city.

He was a real dedicated family man, who loved staying home, he had a great sense of humor, was a loyal friend, a responsible father who loved his kids and grandkids and helped them all in so many ways to be successful, and was always an example of everything a man should be. When he was able he loved gardening, golfing, cycling, and tickling his grandkids ribs.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Josie, his children Dale Jr, Debbie Reece, Lori Chavez, Mary Sebastien, and John, his 23 grandkids, 25 great-grandkids, and 2 great-great-grandkids.

He was predeceased by his father Earl, Stepdad Lee, his beloved mother Beulah Naney, his dear sister Carolyn Rossetti, and his beautiful daughter Cindy Jackson, all who he deeply loved.

He will be truly missed by all as he was a wonderful man.

His memorial service will be held on November 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the home of his granddaughter Erika in Sacramento located at 9200 Gerber Road.

He will be buried on November 17, 2017 at 9:30 am at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery located at 5810 Midway Rd in Dixon. All family and friends welcome.
