James B. Gardner 89, of Burnsville went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 26, 2017 at his home. A native of Yancey County he was a son of the late Charlie and Daisy Brown Gardner. He was also preceded in death by sisters: Charlene Briggs and Martha Jane Elliott and a brother Gene Gardner. He was a US Air Force Veteran, member of Burnsville Lodge # 717 A.F. & A.M., the Oasis Shrine, Jim retired with Glen Raven Mills after 47 years of service. He was active in community and civic affairs. He and his wife operated Riverside Roller Rink since 1958.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 Sunday, October 29, 2017 at West Burnsville Baptist Church of which he was a member. Pastor Terry Long, Revs. Ricky Ray and Larry Sprinkle will officiate. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery with Military Grave Rites by Sgt. EL Randolph Chapter 57 DAV.

The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Yancey County for their care and support.
