COLLINSVILLE-Funeral services for Dorothy M. (Swindle) Carney, 88, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery in Collinsville. Family visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the funeral home.
Dorothy passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Meadowbrook Care Center in Van Alstyne, Texas with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born on February 26, 1929 in Collinsville, Texas to Eber and Edna Avis (Owens) Swindle. She married H.M. “Pop” Carney on September 16, 1945 in DeQueen, Arkansas. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, sewing and cooking. She took great pride in taking care of her family and helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy loved her family greatly.
Survivors include a son, Clyde Carney; 3 daughters, Connie Vannoy, Karen Vannoy and Angie Russell and husband, Tony all of Collinsville; grandchildren, Bruce Vannoy, Barry Vannoy and wife, Rachel, Brent Vannoy and wife, Ashley, Hollie Elvington and husband, Paul, Mikey Vannoy, Amanda DeJernett and husband, Ryan, Samantha Allison and husband, Michael and Zach Russell; great-grandchildren, Madison, Abby and Makayla Vannoy, Devyn and Reece Elvington, Tessa, Wyatt and Miles Vannoy, Bowe and Dottie Allison, Maesyn and Wade DeJernett, Creed and Moxxi Allison, Brooke and Hunter Orsburn and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eber and Edna Swindle; husband, H.M. “pop” Carney; son, Michael Mauzon Carney; 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons and grandson-in-laws, Michael Vannoy, Barry Vannoy, Brent Vannoy, Zach Russell, Ryan DeJernett, Paul Elvington and Michael Allison.
