He married Sarah Vogan 30 Sept 1763. She was captured by the Indians and lived with them for 2 years before being released. She gave birth to 2 children while with the Indians. There is a book written about her capture. They had 8 children - with a couple of them after her capture.
Their children were: William, John, Robert, Isabell, Margaret, James, Jane, and Margaret. The first Margaret died at the age of 3.
