Ronald Lee McDaniel
May 12, 1950 - October 20, 2017

Ronald Lee McDaniel, 67 of Lynchburg, died Friday, October 20, 2017 suddenly at his home. Ronnie was born on May 12, 1950 in Richmond, Virginia and grew up in Glen Allen. He is survived by his wife, Beth, his daughter, Kate of Glen Allen, his son, Matt and wife, Katie and his beloved grandchildren, Alexander and Emerson all of Christiansburg, and his sister, Pat and husband, Tom Lacy of Rockville, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Grace McDaniel, and his grandparents, Alexander and Ida McDaniel and Thomas “Connie” and Bessie Cochran.

Ronnie was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School, Ashland, VA and Chowan College. He worked for the City of Lynchburg for thirty-four years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Winn’s Baptist Church in Glen Allen. Ronnie loved the outdoors and was a long-standing member of the Chestnut Mountain Hunt Club. He participated in the James River Batteau Festival almost every year since its inception and some of his best moments were spent in the woods or on the river. When he was indoors Ronnie enjoyed researching genealogy and leaves behind a great deal of family history for his descendants – some of it created by Ronnie himself. Above all Ronnie was a fiercely devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother; his interest in family history was simply a reflection of the love he had for his own family.

A funeral service will be conducted 9:30 a.m., Monday, October 23, 2017 in Timberlake United Methodist Church, Lynchburg with burial to follow in Westhampton Memorial Park, Richmond.

The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 p.m., Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Service, 427 Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.

Another reception will be held Monday, October 23, 2017 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Winn’s Baptist Church, 12320 Winns Church Road, Glen Allen, VA 23509
