Ora Mary Kirkman Brown, of Clearfield, Utah, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2017, five days before her 94th birthday, at the home of a daughter in Morgan, Utah. She was surrounded by her loving family as she passed and greeted by many loved ones on the other side.

She was born on October 23, 1923 in West Point, Utah, to Raymond and Mary Alice Bennett Kirkman, the 2nd of five children. She graduated from Davis High School in 1941.

On December 8, 1946, she married James Ralph Brown, who lovingly referred to her as Mosey. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 15, 1954. He passed away on June 15, 2005.

Her first calling in the LDS Church came when she was 14, and she has always had a calling since then, her favorite being Gospel Doctrine teacher. She was a faithful visiting teacher since 1947. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Seagull Camp.

She loved to crochet. We treasure her gifts of afghans, slippers, dish cloths, doilies and handiwork. For many years she made 365 stocking caps/year for Volunteers of America to give to little children.

She is survived by her seven children: Dennis (Linda) Brown, of Eden, Linda Brown, of Clearfield, David (Michele) Brown, of Colorado Springs, CO, Carol (Mike) Thurgood, of Syracuse, Coleen (Ron) Russell, of Morgan, Joleen (Doug) Kearsley, of Morgan, and Dwaine (Ginette) Brown, of Bonney Lake, WA; her siblings: Blanche Bingham, Florence Abrams and Nolan Kirkman; 30 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Mom is now enjoying a reunion with her husband, parents, and brother, Dean Kirkman, as well as her grandchildren: Steven Brown, Jessica Brown and Bailey Rupe; great-grandchildren: Marissa Brown, Shaylee Brown and Whit Matthews; and great-great-grandson, Nash Brown.

She was the best mom any child could have!

Our family would like to thank all those who helped with her care, especially Russ Comstock and Gerald Rowley (Fairfield Rehab) and Corey Blonquist (Encompass).

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 12:00 noon, at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N Fairfield Road. Friends may visit with family at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 pm and from 10:30 to 11:30 am on Tuesday.

Interment, West Point Cemetery.
