Jay Earl Pierce, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.


Born on October 29, 1938, in Kinston, NC, son of Isaac Norman Pierce (1912–1976) and Pauline Elizabeth Sauls Pierce (1915–1966); husband of Alice Moore Pierce,


While serving in the Air Force, he took courses at Oregon State, and later became a self-employed accountant; was a deacon at First Baptist Church and a member of the choir; and led the Encouragers Bible Study and Fellowship Group. His contagious smile warmed the hearts of many and his desire to share his life-changing experience with the Lord became one of his most motivating factors in reaching out to others.


Also survived by his children, Jay Pierce, Jr. (Heidi), James Rigsby (April), Lynn Pierce, Jennifer Vick ( Joel), and Terri Motes (Mason); stepchildren, Jamie Trammell and Holly Harrison (Ben); brother, Bob Pierce (Bobbie Jean); seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.


Also predeceased by sisters, Mary Ellen Pierce Anderson (1933–2000) and Betty Pierce Marshall (1936–2008).


The family received friends at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 3, 2012, in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary.


A celebration of life followed at 3:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Dr. Don Wilton.


A private burial was held prior to the service.
