Lucy Woods was born Oct 25, 1774 in KY, the oldest of 10 children born to Archibald Woods and Mourning Harris Shelton. Archibald and Mourning had 7 daughters and 3 sons - Lucy (1774-1854-Married William Caperton); William (1776-1840-Married Mary Harris); Susannah (1778-1851-Married William Goodloe); Mary (1780-1822-Married Colonel Barbee Collins); Sarah (1783-1785); Archibald (1785-1859-Married Elizabeth C. Shackelford); Anna (1787-1859-Married Thomas H. Miller); Thomas (1789-1806); Ann (Born and died May 15, 1791); Mourning (1792-1852-Married Garland Burleigh Miller).

Lucy married William Caperton Dec 15, 1790 in Madison Co., KY. Together Lucy and William had 10 children - 8 sons and 2 daughters. Their children were: Archibald (1791-1840-Married Maire Hazlip); Hugh (1793-1862); Thomas Shelton (1795-1864); William Harris (1798-1862-Married Eliza Estill); Hulda Louise (1800-1880-Married Andrew Woods); John Milton (1802-1864); Green (1804-1839); (Susan Goodloe (1807-?-Married Wallace P. Wilson); Milton Thompson (1811-1907-Married Amanda M. Schrivner) and Andrew (1814-1855).

Lucy is with her parents in 1780, and most of 1790. In 1800 she is with her husband and their first 5 children in Madison Co., KY. In 1810 she is in Madison Co., KY with her husband and 8 of their children and 16 slaves. In 1820 Lucy and William are in Franklin Co., TN with 6 of their children and 13 slaves. There are 4 people engaged in agriculture. They are in Franklin Co., TN in 1830 with 2 males under the age of 9 - I would assume 2 of their grandsons. They also have 6 slaves on this census record. William will die in 1836, so in 1840 Lucy is in Davidson Co., TN living by herself with 8 slaves. In 1850 she is in Lexington, Holmes Co., MS, again living alone. She is on the same census page as her sons Andrew, (Alfred-another child?), and daughter Susan Goodloe and her husband Wallace P. Wilson and their families.

Lucy will die in 1854 at the age of 79 - probably in Mississippi. Lucy is my 4th Great Aunt.
