Meryle E. Rasmussen, age 92, of Manitowoc, died Saturday October 14, 2017 at Harbor View Assisted Living of Manitowoc.

Meryle was born on April 5, 1925 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Oscar and Irma (Houghton) Engelbrecht. She graduated with the class of 1943 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School and attended UW Madison for two years. Meryle met her future husband, Lawrence W. Rasmussen Sr. in Ephraim and was married on March 2, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 6, 1992. She was a homemaker and volunteered at Memorial Hospital and the Domestic Violence Center. Meryle loved traveling to Door County, knitting, crochet and needlework.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law: Lawrence (Anna) Rasmussen, Jr., Gainesville, FL; Richard (Denise) Rasmussen, Southlake, TX; one daughter and son-in-law: Linda (Richard) Schroeder, Cleveland; seven grandchildren: Lawrence (Ellen) Rasmussen III; Joanna Rasmussen; Christopher Rasmussen; Amy Rasmussen; Sophia Rasmussen; Alyssa (Chad) Boutelle; Andrew Rasmussen and his fiancé Brianna Bennin; one great-grandchild: Brooklyn Boutelle; special friend and caregiver: Marcie Bierman, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Oscar and Irma Engelbrecht; husband: Lawrence Rasmussen, Sr.; infant brother: David Engelbrecht; brother and sister-in-law: Donald (Ethel) Engelbrecht; daughter-in-law and the family's AFS Student: Monica Rasmussen.

According to Meryle's wishes no services will take place at this time and burial of her cremated remains will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
