Mrs. Oscar Engelbrecht, 77, formerly of 1020 N. 15th St., Manitowoc,
died Thursday morning at Family Heritage Nursing Home, Manitowoc,
where she had resided two and a half years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Phipps
Memorial Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. The Rev.
Gervase Zanotti will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Engelbrecht, nee Erma Marie Houghton, was born Nov. 3, 1894,
at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Walter and Henrietta Holtger
Houghton. She attended schools in Manitowoc. She was married to
Oscar Engelbrecht July 28, 1919, at Manitowoc. The couple resided
in Manitowoc. Her husband preceded her in death in 1957.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a former deaconess,
a member of the Elks Lodge Auxiliary, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary
and the Order of Eastern Star No. 196.
Survivors include a son, Donald, of Edina, Minn., a daughter, Mrs.
Lawrence (Meryle) Rasmussen, and a brother, Walter, of Manitowoc
and six grandchildren. Two sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Friday where Eastern Star service will be held at 8 p.m. The casket
will remain closed. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian
Church or Memorial Hospital.
