Terry was born Feb. 25, 1945 in Bloomington to Wendell and Pauline Alexander. He grew up as the eldest of three boys on the family farm where he learned his unsurpassed work ethic. He graduated from Normal Community High School in 1963. After graduation, he continued working on the family farm until October 1965. He then enlisted into the U.S. Navy and left with an honorable discharge on Oct. 17, 1968. Terry married his lifelong love, Karen Draper on Dec. 22, 1970. Terry worked hard his entire life and retired from Nestle Beich as a fork lift operator and member of the Teamsters.
Terry is survived by his wife, Karen. They had three sons, Brett (Joann) Alexander and Barton Alexander, both of Bloomington, and Bradley Alexander, who passed away March 30, 2009. He is survived by two granddaughters, Jordan Alexander and Brooklyn Alexander, both of Bloomington; five grandsons, Kyle Alexander, Bloomington; Keegan Alexander, Normal; Brady Alexander, Draper Alexander and Preston Alexander, all of Bloomington; one great grandchild, Peyton Danielle Lyle, Bloomington; one brother, Tim (Shelia) Alexander, Bloomington; sister-in-law, Helen Alexander, Indianapolis and friend of 56 years, Dan (Doris) Hale, Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Pauline Alexander; his brother, Tom Alexander and son, Bradley Alexander.
Terry enjoyed his collection of knives, tractors, cars and spending time with his family, most of all his grandchildren. On weekends, he could be found attending dirt track races and hanging out with his lifelong friend, Dan Hale.
He was a hardworking man and to provide for his family he spent most his life working at least two jobs, even past retirement. Terry is most admired by all for opening his heart and home to everyone who crossed his path. He never spoke an unkind word of anyone, saw the best in people and treated everyone like a friend. He would do anything for anyone in need without accepting anything in return. He was the embodiment of a "good man" and someone everyone wanted to be.
